IMG_3065.jpg IMG_3066.jpg I just purchased a set of 8 Rosebud Chintz plates at the thrift store and found that two of them are numbered with green lettering on the back. Anyone know if this has any significance as to age or anything else? Thanks for the help!

Decorators number for piece work payment, usually.

Thanks for the quick reply! Also, in the judgment of the folks here, are those lines paralleling the scalloped edge from pattern application or are they some sort of wear?

It's the pattern number. You can see on replacements.com that there is more than one pattern called Rosebud Chintz. I guess that's a little edge wear, since it doesn't have gold trim. It might clean off with Barkeeper's Friend or Bon Ami if it worries you.

Yep, you're right. I was just over there and didn't make the connection. Thanks!
