PERVSIA Portrait

have you ever heard of Pervsia or anything relating to it, I bought this from a charity shop; I'm assuming that its a place but I'm not sure. The picture itself seems to be woven onto fabric, any reply would be helpful, Thank you

Sounds like a tapestry, framed. Could the s be a g, as in Perugia?

Yes, it is Perugia, a town in Italy. The ancient Etruscan name is Perusia, and classic names are often used in prints like this.
It is probably a reproduction of an old print, but it is impossible to tell its age from a picture like this. For that we would need to see details, the paper it is printed on. I realize you can't take it out of the frame without doing some damage, so best to leave it as it is.

That's pretty amazing, thank you. It doesn't seem to be printed on paper, it seems to be material, some kind of canvas maybe. This is what the material looks like close up if you can see...

 

So it does. Maybe on linen? It reminds me a bit of a fancy tea towel, they make them with historical prints, worthy of a nice frame.
