Featured Sterling Japanese lady w/ parasol shaped spoon - need help with mark please.

This is the last of the sterling pieces I could not ID.

My opinion? Gorgeous!!

 

I second that.
Amazing balancing act on top of that samisen (string instrument).

 

With the sterling mark in a typically older font than is used by modern makers (and in English instead of Japanese characters, besides) I have to think this falls in the category of "souvenir" spoons that @DragonflyWink knows so much about.

I could be wrong, but I'm sure she'll want to see it!

I do like that one. If I collected spoons I think I'd want it.

 

That's the Japanese geisha with umbrella (wagasa) spoon, fairly common with a number of variants, but still a desirable souvenir spoon. They were produced from the early 20th century until at least the mid 20th century (post WWII), and as Bakersgma suggests, this is an older one. Can post an old catalog page once I dig it out of my files...

When I was researching this piece I did see plenty of different examples of this spoon, but did not find any with this particular mark. I guess I'll put NIKKo in the title & see what happens.

Sorry - should have said that it's a souvenir of Nikko, I have a Japanese souvenir spoon from the same era, stamped "TOKIO" on the back of the stem...

I thought that was the maker & had no idea that it was a name of a city in Japan.
