And one for the pottery folks - Old Pitcher with Yellow Rose Decal

Sorry, I didn't mean to leave the pottery folks out. I'm making progress on getting some things listed and I'm down to my problem children. The pitcher is about 7 3/4" tall and about 8 1/4" from spout to handle. I'm guessing English 1880's but that is just a guess. Any clues to manufacturer, age, etc. would be appreciated. Thanks very much. Don

 

I think it's British, not European - that figure 1 is wrong for European. A bit earlier: mid 19th C.

I don't know anything about it, but I did notice that the top of the handle seems to be a lions head (or some other animal.) I did not see it mentioned anywhere in the thread, but that may help you ID it. Of course my eyes could be playing tricks on me. Just thought I'd mention it.

 

Hi bdigger - it does appear there is some type of critter on the handle but the mold isn't very sharp and I can't tell if it's a lion or not. It looks like it has fang but it's not a serpent as it appears to have ears. Thank you for pointing it out - it could indeed be another clue.

 

Lions head eating it's own tail. Fits with the period.
