I’m struggling a bit with ID’ing these stones so any help appreciated please :)
    Thankyou as always!

    1) Brown- Mary Contrary tester says Hessonite but I thought that was more orange/brown?. Definitely not glass.

2)Colourless/hint of pink. Doesn’t test as quartz . Suggests Goshenite?. Big chunk 1.5cm squareish.

Backlit, no idea if that helps!

3)Beautiful red/pink test as Ruby. Largest 1.5cm, smallest 1cm. Presume synthetic otherwise I’d be very rich!
Very reactive to UV, is that a synthetic characteristic?

4)Blue, absolutely no idea. Mary used shotgun approach so she has no clue. Transparent when held to the light, inclusions and blue when backlit. Nearly black when not lit. About 1cm long.

Smoky quartz; lab grown ruby. Agree on calcite & tourmaline.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Mary Contrary... is that a person, or a brand name? :artist::) ( This is a serious question...)

Sorry, Mary Contrary is my highly temperamental Presidium PGI gem tester!.
She is frequently random with her suggestions, occasionally spot on and when in doubt suggests a barrage of options from glass to sapphires.
She is also incredibly sensitive to everything including magnets of any sort, even the little ones that fall off the fridge, other electrical appliances and moving air. Yes, you did hear that right, when I rang up to try to sort some of the problems they genuinely asked me if I was using it near a window .
She also randomly tests thin air and announces it is glass and finds metal where there is none.
That’s when she works at all and isn’t stuck on some hysterical loop that is only solved by 12 hours of quiet in a darkened room.
    That, Fig, is Mary.

That is funny! I have a Presidium gem tester also. Maybe a different model than yours? I should check the influence of magnets, and air. I would say that I haven't really learned to use it well, but it seems to identify ranges correctly as far as I can tell. I think it can do more than what I've asked of it. No hysterical loops, either!

Mine is the handheld version. I should have bought the analogue version with the dial which has much better reviews.

Mine has a dial. It could be held in the hand, but that would be clumsy. So I must have the analogue version.

Mine is like a chunky pen.
Except a pen is more reliable and mostly more useful.

I have a cheap Chinese one that works OK for what I paid.
