What Is It?

I bought my son a metal detector for his birthday and he was searching in the park today. I did not have any tools on me to dig out and it started raining so we had to go.Any idea what that could be?

 

Looks like it may be a spiral tent peg .

 

That thing is hollow, like a pipe or so, maybe 2” in diameter.

 

Iron survey stake?

 

Never saw one that looked like that......which universe are you in??? Looks like someone didn't want something to blow away..........maybe........

 

Some sort of anchor for...something. It's been there a while.

 

I've seen something like that for grounding Lightning rods. The cable runs from the lightning rods on the roof then down the house and attached to a grounding system.

I have seen many of those grounding rods with that on top and out of the ground by 18" the rod was 3 to 4 ft long in to the ground.

Yes - very deep into the ground. I've seen the grounding systems above the ground and others were in the ground and covered with dirt , all you saw was the cable running into the ground.
