I found this at a local yard sale. The angle is not the best but it is a nice painting of a elderly oriental lady .
Whats unusual is it is stamped on the back of the canvas Mail Order & Causeway Bay Hong Kong?

Were there mail order paintings? Or maybe it was a service for tourists to send paintings home they bought while in Hong Kong?

Finally, can anyone make out the artist's name? I see Tan L. Ping - is that right?
As always I appreciate any help.

It is a very nice painting. Almost has a Vietnamese look to it.
Mail order for the canvas maybe?

Agree on both points. First name looks like Tanh to me & the Mail Order mark keeps repeating, so think it belongs to the canvas itself, not the whole painting.

That's what I thought, and that looks Vietnamese as well. Ping doesn't, but there are Chinese in Vietnam, so why not a combination.

The name made me think Vietnamese immediately. I don't have enough knowledge to draw conclusions from the painting.

The woman who cuts my hair is Vietnamese & once told me her husband is Chinese Vietnamese. Last name is Quan.

Most likely the address of the factory where it was produced.

Bet it was a Vietnam-era souvenir.
