Hello friends, I am trying to identify the figure in the center of this beautiful composite resing plaque from Mexico, as well as what the symbols surrounding it mean? My guess is twelve months? Any direction would be much appreciated.... IMG_5041 copy.jpg IMG_5045 copy.jpg

The symbols around the edge look Maya to me, and I think the central figure is also Maya.
I don't know, the Maya calendar is very complicated.
Here is a wiki page on the Maya calendar, maybe that helps:

I think the figure is Kinich Ahau, a sun god.

Could be, with those big eyes, and he also has a jaguar connection.

Fyi, Joyeria Ropa Piel Arte simply means "Jewelry Clothing Leather Art ." It's not the name of a shop but a description of what they sell.

This looks similar to the crushed malachite in resin made by Zarebski in Mexico. Could be from them or a similar copier. These are not copies of pre Columbian work, but “interpretations” so you shouldn’t expect historical accuracy. A fair amount was made in mid 20th century and later. Unfortunately, like many vintage / antique items, prices are pretty low due to more supply than demand.

Thanks, I couldn't recall the name. They also made 'copies' of parts of actual pre-Columbian stelae etc.
