Featured not antique but looks like art

this landed on my garage door,what is it?

 

It is a luna moth or American moon moth:

I went outside one day at a house I was renting, and there were dozens of luna moths attached to the side of the house. It was very cool looking.

They are so pretty.

 

I would so print that out and frame it. Great picture!

 

Hi,
The female Luna Moth gives off a pheromone that attracts every male for one or two square miles. They are lovely but have shrunk considerably in the last 50 years.
When I was a kid they used to be 8 to 10" across. The largest one I found last year was only 3" across.

looked later another larger one,maybe something to do with leaving the outside light on all night,,,bad makes a big ugly spider bug mess
