This is available local to me. They don’t know where it’s from and neither do I. I know there’s some people here who can probably tell. I don’t have better pictures of the wood which I know goes a long way in determining where it was made. Just curious, might make a play if it’s American. 2C48E656-A48E-4C5D-A114-586878051F0A.jpeg 7E24ACE6-AFC1-444F-B110-4095130E6C6D.jpeg 773C0F49-4A5D-4C25-99FF-82195B59DE3E.jpeg 600EB701-C026-4370-9375-5670E54E5636.jpeg F2086D2A-71B6-4CC2-8397-4716F1E7F489.jpeg A4DF3EF4-25F5-425A-9F83-64CE76191745.jpeg

Indian, I'd think, and not necessarily old.

I'm seeing a bunch of Phillips head screws; those weren't in common use until during/after WWII.

Interesting. I can’t even see that much detail on my original pics, never mind the ones here. Good eye. I think there were some efforts to reinforce things possibly at some point.

edit: not sure if that would explain them or not?

Not sure if his absence is temporary or permanent. Hoping he comes back. A wealth of information over the years from him.

Click on his avatar (where one would be if he had one) in a thread and then on his name in the window that pops up - comes up with a board error message.

The error message has to do with who is allowed to his profile.

It had always been viewable until recently.

In November of 2020 there was a discussion going on about having our personal information for people/bots to see and this is what he said at that time:

I guess only he knows the reason............

I have the highest respect for him, and I certainly hope he will remain here as an active member.

VERY hard to guess the age. it could even be a marriage of a bottom frame with legs and another chest on top that had appr. the same measures.
where from will even be the bigger problem because it's a typical farmer chest that was placed at the foot of the bed and held all individual possessions. could even be from an old Amish community.
furthermore there was a returning fashion for hobbyist painters to paint strip old chests and redo them in their taste.
    here an idea ...

I thinks that’s a possibility as far as the marriage. There certainly are a lot of similar paint schemes in your link. Too many questions for me to bid on. Your Amish comment was echoed by the seller potentially. They listed it as 18th c, PA or European. I’m no closer to knowing now, but I passed on it.
