    Hi all .....
With us in the UK being in our third lockdown we haven't been able to go to fairs or antiques centres so I'm bored and struggling for projects now.
So I dug out this little Georgian box that was in a mess and worked on it for something to do.

    So inside ....
Some of the sections were there but two of the back ones and the lid were missing, those have been replaced with old bits of wood.
The fabric I used for the lid is Georgian, I just had enough for that.
    Outside ....
The little handle is original but the escutcheon was missing, the one I've used is probably Georgian or pretty close, the brass ball feet I took off another Georgian box some time ago and are correct for that box.
It was once red but someone dyed it brown, so I dyed it darker and polished it up.

So ...... It isn't the nicest box I have but I'm happy with how it turned out and it should go on for another couple of hundred years :) IMG_2833.jpeg IMG_2885.jpeg IMG_2892.jpeg IMG_2893.jpeg IMG_2886.jpeg

Nice result. Preserving older things so they made be continued to be appreciated and not thrown away is a very worthwhile endeavor. I like how your used materials from the era.

Yes, It's such a pity that some things like this are thrown away when they can be saved,

Or sometimes just remain in their dilapidated condition because people don’t want to risk devaluing it so it just rots away and is lost anyway. This has given it back a use and a purpose to be cherished as you say for years to come :)

You're right, before it had little value and it really wasn't pretty to look at :)

That’s like awful. Sorry to hear this. Maybe you’ll get a more beautiful nose out of it. Wish you good fortune and a quick and successful surgery.

    Good luck :)
I had to have something removed from the bridge of my nose years ago so now I'm more careful.

Yes, I try to match them as well as I can, Georgian sewing boxes were always that aqua colour, pink, yellow or pale blue, sometimes they had red leather fittings inside, even green and sometimes red velvet interiors :)
