RARE Maclevy vintage and machine

I have an original Maclevy vibrating ab machine that STILL works, though it doesn't have the original belt. Any ideas as to how and who to sell it too? My pics are to to large to upload, but will send if anyone has any info. Thanks in advance! Izzy

Try to sell as-is on CL. I doubt you will get any bites unless you’d be happy with a small number of dollars. Then use your imagination and make a paint-can holder that’ll fit on it. People can use paint shakers, will sell for a little more money than an incomplete butt shaker.

 

Yep I have the whole machine, but can't seem to find any information on age or worth. Any ideas?

 

“Worth” about what you paid for it. To determine age we’d need to see all the alphanumeric info (anything marked on it) that’s on the machine. Age of this item will make no difference in the value.

 

Unfortunately the plate on the back is missing. All I have as far as written info is the base, which reads Maclevy Established 1893 New York. Thanks for all your help.

 

I'm not sure these survived much past when the advertising photo was taken, 1967 or so. Strictly a guess, but popular maybe starting late 50s? They sold the idea that you could lose fat & shape your body without having to do any work. People did finally catch on that they were ineffective.

 

I'm pretty sure there was one among the various "sister" contraptions in a "gym" for women I went to in about 1970 when I was trying to lose the "baby fat."

 

Did anyone ever actually subject herself to it?

 

I don't recall using it myself, seemed kind of silly. I think my change of calorie intake did way more for the situation than any of those torture devices.

 

Nowadays it might have a new lease of life if you could market it as some kind of sex toy.
