What does everyone think of this 2 piece vase and stand? It is almost 15 inches in total height. Does it look like Moser? The vase has been repaired at the base, but the stand is in good condition.

    Hi,
William tell is a hero of Switzerland. He was forced to shoot an apple off his sons head with a cross bow.

Would that make this a rarer piece.

Yes the other landscape scenes could be of Switzerland as well. Interesting. But does anyone know if this is Moser?

It would seems you can have him on a shower curtain, if you want.

Patience. Often the way we have to proceed is to piece together clues by brainstorming together until we can describe an item accurately enough to get the right results from searching the Internet. It would not be one of a kind. We're hoping for a record of a company who produced a piece matching the description of this one.

That's fine. Why would it not be one of a kind?

That's fine. Can I ask why you think it would not be one of a kind?

It appears that this was originally an engraving, a black & white illustration for an 1869 book, Schiller-Galerie, which showed characters from Schiller's works. That puts a floor under the date.

Because to put in all that design work & only make one would make it prohibitively expensive for all but the wealthiest; more money to be made from more customers at a lower price. (It still wasn't cheap.) And if you were going to make something unique, you wouldn't use artwork copied from another source.

Ceramics are not my field, cameos are, so I often have to research for original artwork. Hopefully one of our pottery people will have some ideas about maker based on style, colors, etc. A bit like KPM, but think they mark clearly. Without knowing who made it when, we have no idea how common or rare it would be.

Isn't this green glass that is painted?

Yes it is green glass. The gold gilt details and cross hatch white panels, really do match the work of other Moser pieces I've seen. I understand that the hand painted panels may be done by someone else. I will be selling this piece. I understand the damage might be a deterrent, but I've really never seen anything like it. I want to get as best an understanding of what it is before I sell.

Whoops scooped. , I read too slowly, or type too slowly.

I think we'll find that this is glass. Notice in the first and 4th pictures you can see through the back side, green?

It may even be crystal, but I'll have to get back to you on that.
