Hi, sv1.JPG sv2.JPG sv3.JPG sv4.JPG sv5.JPG this small sideboard is about 36" wide, 12" deep and 29" tall. Clean lines, dark stained wood, and a neat turquoise blue enamel handle. It is slightly curved, and the back a little wider than the front.

Would you say this is a midcentury piece? Seems so to me, but I don't know a lot about furniture. Any other thoughts on its origins? I just thought the enamel handle was cool and the price was right so I bought it. I'll be selling locally in a pretty strong midcentury market. I know pricing info is not usually given, but perhaps someone would take pity on me and offer a ballpark figure?

Thanks for any help with this.

This looks true to the period (1950s, early 60s), though sometimes it it hard to tell these days with companies such as Copeland producing almost dead-ringers for MCM pieces...........

I'm in with MCM. Subtle with a KNOCKOUT feature. That handle is awesome.

This musta had some designer's moniker attached to it at one time. Probably be worthwhile to track down who that is.

If your MCM market is strong, knowing the designer, if notable, could really pay off...if that's a strong, KNOWLEDGEABLE MCM market anyway.

Around here folks know their stuff and the right stuff still flies.

I'd say late 60s or even very early 70s. Lovely piece, very clean lines. That handle is a bit Ruskin Pottery.

Thank you all for your comments, and Messilane, it does look like the same designer as the 1st dibs piece. Now, if I take their $3400 price, cut it in half because it's 1st dibs, then in half again since mine is smaller and less involved, I get $850, hmmm, that would suit me. Just kidding though, I really have no idea how to price it, or research the maker. I'll keep looking.

Not 100% positive, but I think this was designed by Ray Sabota, and manufactured by John Stuart or possibly Mount Airy. A friend showed the photos to a midcentury expert who suggested Mount Airy. I saw several dressers with the same handles manufactured by Mount Airy, designed by Ray Sabota. So, I searched Ray Sabota, and found a few sideboards, larger, but quite similar to mine, manufactured by John Stuart. So, there you go. One larger sideboard was listed, and I think sold, on Chairish for $1270. The 2 dressers are currently listed on 1st dibs for $3200 and $3800.
