Found this pretty in a junk lot today. I don’t know if there was such a thing as a sapphiret rivoli. Definitely has the coloring. 08CB0A96-7BAB-4BB4-ACAD-C6A199F5397A.jpeg

Sure looks like one! Is it open-backed or foiled?

The back is open but it has a coating on it. I have retired for the night but will post a pic in the morning! Thanks!

Can you photograph it on a white background? It’s hard to see the color of the stone, it almost looks like we are seeing your hand through it.

    It is gorgeous, Raccoon.
On these pictures it does look like saphiret, but as Marie said, we need to see it against a white background.

That is really pretty, the only hesitation I have is that it almost looks too good! All the original saphiret pieces I have seen look far less well produced.

Also, how the back looks will help date the piece :)

Ok, so here it is in a white background and the back. I actually found it under sold items on eNay, apparently it is a Whiting Davis piece. Kinda stoked 7712F73C-193D-4D65-83B1-E1D406E4FA9E.jpeg BC12D073-5049-4169-BC17-9A71FD8D61D0.jpeg !!

I suspect that it isn't saphirete, that the mocha coloring is because of the back's coating. When you look at it sideways across the top do you see any mocha coloring? Saphirete will have the coloring all the way through the stone, not just when looking toward the back.

I don't know if Rivoli stones were made when old saphirete was being made but I will have to search for that info. It looks mid 20th century maybe?

Did you see the pic? It seems to have the shading through?

    That is so beautiful!.
It will make an amazing pendant. I’d want about 6 safety chains on it though :hilarious:

I did, and it looks like reflection from the back to me. But it is still a very nice piece.

Thanks Any. I felt like it was too new for saphiret also, however these are super collectible and called saphiret so I’ll go with that, LOL.
