I know “crazing” to give a piece an old look can be faked by mismatching glazes and clay, but this had such a thick coat of dark grease over 25% of its surface, that I thought the crazing might be genuine. I often find shards of crazed pottery on my property and in the creek. Well, and I find shards of native American pottery, too, but that’s another story.

The vase is 11 inches high, and from looking inside I'd say it was thrown on a wheel. The glaze is transparent yellow over white.

    Thanks for your thoughts.

It looks like the inside at the bottom is unglazed, is that right? If so I think that points to a newish piece.

Yes, the inside is unglazed except for the inside lip. Also, the bottom outside is unglazed. The bottom sides are covered, but it it's unclear to me if this is glaze or paint.

The bottom being unglazed is more common, but the inside is a problem. I think it should only be used with dried or silk flowers, JMHO.
