pottery musical note wall pockets

Hi All,
I'm trying to figure out who made these - about 6" x 2 1/2", one has been repaired.

Is that some kind of logo on the second picture, second note near top?

The red clay leads me to believe these are Japanese. I can't think of any US companies that had a solid red clay back. They are incredibly cute, though. I can just see them on the wall above my mom's piano.
