The seller claims issued in "Main" but Newburyport is in Massachusetts.

:). I don’t think anything was issued in Main. Garrison was born in Newburyport, MA, but I guess the token itself theoretically could have been issued not too far away in Maine. He was the founder of the New England Anti-Slavery Society. So there would be reason for tokens to be issued elsewhere, or maybe just they were struck there. Maine could have absolutely nothing to do with it just as easily. There seems to be little to no definitive info on these.

Good lookin out! I looked on several “so called dollar” sites but didn’t see this. I had actually never heard the term “so called dollar” before so it was worth it just to become aware of that.

Edit: I was also wholly unaware of William Lloyd Garrison. It turns out he was one of the handful of most important figures in the country to ending slavery. He was an incredibly dedicated abolitionist and it’s seems a shame he’s not even mentioned in basic elementary history. Furthermore he was for women’s suffrage which even half the other abolitionists were against it seems. A man very worthy of a token it seems. I know very little about him overall so maybe he beat animals on the side or something but sounds like a standup guy from what I can tell so far.

One of the Newburyport houses I lived in was just a few doors away from Garrison's home (according to the historical mark posted.) I'm glad you did some more research on Garrison, Dagger. Definitely a worthy subject.

Very cool! Nice area to live! He fought (at great peril to himself) for basic HUMAN rights at a time in history when it was most important. Worthy indeed it seems!
