Would anyone know who made this glass? It is thick, dimpled and has a pontil mark on the bottom. Measures 7.5" by 6". Thank you! 2006-12-24 08.25.44.jpg 2006-12-24 08.26.48.jpg 2006-12-24 08.27.19.jpg

Does the cork look older? The Jar could be 1970s. I love amber glass.

You might look into Blenko. They made canister sets and other pieces with rolled rims and cork (and wood) stoppers in the 1970s. I've never seen any of them in person. And looking at the catalog photos available, the glass doesn't appear to be textured. But I found an example on Worthpoint claiming to be Blenko, and the glass was textured.

    Blenko catalog site: http://www.blenkoproject.org/

The first canister set and cork-stoppered items start showing up around 1972, but with smooth-appearing glass and non-rolled rims. Rolled-rim large items start showing up around 1974, and then rolled-rim canisters in 1977 (in the Blue Top Mountain Glass line). But you'll notice by then the listed sizes of the canisters are larger than yours. The other thing is that several of those catalog scans have missing pages, and cut-out areas.

So, I think it's possible yours is Blenko, but I can't be certain. Hope this doesn't send you on a wild goose chase.

The corks looked like they had been around for awhile and needed a good cleaning.

Thank you for all the information! Yes, that set on Worthpoint is just like this one. I have the two largest pieces in that set. I looked through the Blenko booklets and like you said the glass is smooth in those. I'll keep looking into this and post anything that I find.

You're welcome. You also might try contacting the owner of the Blenko Project site. She also has a blog which you could search through, and posts regular articles about the company / history / pieces in the local paper, etc.

Most Blenko info that people share is geared toward the art glass and rare pieces. They also did lots of everyday, utilitarian ware like this meant to be used in the home, a lot of which no one would guess was by the same company.

This doesn't make sense to me. They say it is Pilgrim glass, but it is made in Portugal.
    From a Pintrest page

Very good of you to come back and let us know.

So wonder how the pintrest page person came up with the Portugal part after saying Pilgrim. That really confused matters.
