    Hi everyone,

Hope you are well and keeping safe.
I stumbled on and win it in an auction this unusual propelling pencil. In the auction it was described as "A 9 carat gold Prince Of Wales feather fleur-de-lys propelling pencil". The propelling pencil is only 6cm long and weigh 3.9gms. I could only find with the markings (like one of the pictures I have supplied is that it was made in January 1845, bundle 2 (2nd entry for the day). Apart from this I have only found one other like it but no information. Can anyone help me with any information?
Thank you all and thank you for your time.

I found this image with a dead eBay link. Look at the white box, it yields the selling price.

It looks like the Prince of Wales' feathers sans crown, rather than a fleur-de-lis.

I live in Missouri. I have found a number of these over the years. My mom turns 90 tomorrow ( almost an antique) and collected antiques most of her life. She told me that those little mechanical pencils were used to sign dance cards. I am sure there were other uses.

The tiny 'propelling pencils' (as they were called way back when), often in novelty forms, were also used, by both women and men, as charms on watch chains and fobs...
