Help to identify/date brass plate please

Hi everyone,
It's been a while since I posted asking for help, but I'm back! I have inherited quite a few unidentified items and among them is this heavy brass plate - it has very ornate decoration including 3 raised lions. I suspect its Indian (my grandfather was there) but would love to know any information you could provide please - I can't find anything like it online. It's definitely been in our family for at least 60 years and the pictures don't show the warm golden colour very well I'm afraid. It's not very big - approx 9.5" diameter. Thanks for any information in advance.

Thank you so much for your reply - and you're right, it's really similar. I've had a quick look at Persian lion and sun symbols and it feels like it might well be the right path for me to start my research. I never even considered Persia. The plate has a lovely feel to it and is something I intend to keep. Thanks again.
