Hi all! I brought home an ice box at auction recently. It’s a single-door model that stands about 4.5’ tall. The plate on the front says Ice Saver. I haven’t been able to find a single item online that looks similar. Any ideas? TIA (I tried to upload a photo but the file is too large!)

Ruth, go to this website, I had to use it last night. Some of our cell phones must take larger pics than others, is the only thing I can think of, as to the reason some are too large ? http://webresizer.com/resizer/

    Could it have held Coca-Cola?

It appears to be a home ice box. You can see the two shelves leaning against the bottom.

I’ve found lots of similar images on Google searches, but none that match the piece I have. And absolutely nothing on the name Ice Saver. I’m looking for someone who has knowledge of old ice boxes to provide some insight, as Google hasn’t been of any help.

Thank you! The inside of the ice box appears to be a home model, not a Coca Cola dispenser. It’s a mystery.

I have searched, and am also not finding ice saver. I don’t know know anyone here who specializes in vintage ice boxes. ( but someone may weight in at some point) in the the mean time, you might looks for a vintage appliance Forum.

Well …… the only pic I found of one was from your post on a facebook upcyclers group :sour:

I did find mention of an oak one sold at an Indiana auction many years ago but no pic or information. There were hundreds (thousands?) of icebox makers so it is not really too surprising to not find more. Suspect it was a regional brand and may not have been long lived. The styling on yours suggests late in terms of ice boxes..... perhaps made even after refrigerators were readily available. Late 20s-30s?

No you didn't. No specialist here..... Perhaps just enough of a generalist to know a little about the subject to conjecture about it.

Thank you for your input! Yes, it does seem to be a later model. That’s a good idea to look in appliance forums. I bought it in Mississippi, if that provides any useful detail!
