I was working Sunday and on arrival at the biz was very pleased to find that someone had given me two nice looking HUMMV’s, sitting on a flatbed in front of our building. Didn’t know who they were from, no notes or anything. I planned to have a few of us unload them Monday. But alas they were gone on Monday! This is all 100% true! I took pictures ‘cause I was afraid people wouldn’t believe me.

Dunno but it was an interesting pair because front one looked like an older version without armor, compared to rear one with heavy armor, very thick windows, etc. Guessing they were a “before and after” display being set up somewhere. Neat lil’ trailer too.

LOL, That would have been a very nice gift! considering an up-armored Hummv is about 220k each!

Thanks, I’ll still accept them if they come back, even if I have to pay income tax on the value. Don’t think I could get out of that part.

I would need a ladder to be able to get into one of those doors.
You now take the cake for the largest find here I think.
    Enjoy.

Sorry Springfld, they were on the way to my house, and I gave very explicit instructions to not stop along the way, but I guess they ignored my request and stopped for BBQ. ;)

On a side note, I found out recently through a facebook page dedicated to the neighborhood I grew up in that Nike missiles were stored at a base about a mile down road from our house. That surprised me. :wideyed:

ETA: Just read that there were a string of these bases surrounding Philly to protect it. Huh, interesting.

and the Phillies; they're been known to get shelled.

As for those HumVs, they'd be great weekend cars for going downtown!

I used to visit a collector friend who had a barn full of military antiques and a yard full of fire engines in Horsham. He was also the county coroner. Traveling West on I-76 some miles before the 611 exit, on the left, was a Nike base radar dome, long disused but still a landmark. I’ve already told y’all the story of the Nike missile I bought and sold in FL, so I won’t repeat that.

I'm thinking a missile silo would make a good summer home, right about now. Thunderstorms go overhead, lots of nice shielding, and no one messing with you.....
