Idly browsing catalogues and came across this, I don't recognise the design at all. I can't give much info as the description is 'old white metal necklace'. Possibly a moonstone at the top. Chain looks later to me. Any ideas where/when? Tia
Agree with dyed sponge coral and moonstone, don't know what the green stone is... The pendant is in Arts and Crafts style, but IMHO is a modern Thaï or Balinese making. @Any Jewelry for opinion
Ditto. Ditto. Yes it could be Thai, they have some companies that make Western period style jewellery. Probably not Bali, but it could be other Indonesian, maybe from Jambi, on Sumatra.
Many thanks all, if it doesn't go for too much I might buy it as it looks interesting and will be good to see in person. The green stone looks interesting too, may be able to diagnose it under the scope. How recent were we thinking? As in could I trace the source if they are still being made now?
I would guess this century. Personally speaking, I would never buy a European looking piece with dyed sponge coral. And I would only buy Asian jewellery with dyed sponge coral if the rest of the piece was rare, and I could find a way to ditch the dyed sponge coral.
