    No idea of origin,it has a "repousse" design on the inside made before the 4 pieces of the vessel were braised together.

    I think you are right. It is decorated with a form of Arabic calligraphy, using the repoussé technique, as Holly said.
    What follows is mostly guesswork, I'm sorry I can't be more definite.
    I don't read Arabic, but it looks like it is based on Kufic script. Kufic script was developed in Iraq in the 7th century and is the oldest Arabic script form to be used for caligraphy.
    It is either a water vessel or a vase, and my guess is Persian (Iranian).
