Old Gold Box Help

    Hello!

    This is from my husbands family England and not sure but don't think it's a cigarette box. I think it's white pot metal? Any ideas of where from or ?? Value??

    3 7/8" L x 2 5/8" W x 1.25" H
    8.9 ounces / 253 grams

    Japanese antimony-ware, they typically had a silver or bronze finish - suspect someone painted yours gold...

    Thank you! I found one like it but was ceramic, never saw this one!
    thank you it's heavy never thought it would be Japanese at all from his mom/dad way back from England
