antique satsuma ware vase

    is this an old satsuma vase? the decoration looks maybe early 1900s to me, base is stamped just with a number 2 $_57 (85).jpg $_57 (84).jpg $_57 (83).jpg $_57 (86).jpg $_57 (82).jpg

    This is a modern Chinese item made in the old Satsuma style, dates from around 1990's onwards.

    correct me if im wrong, but that is a 2 on the base not 1990s?

    you cant see in the pictures but the glaze does have alot of crazing like older pottery

    The 2 doesn't have any significance. This style of vase started being produced in the 1990's, so this is the earliest date it could be, they are still being made today in China. Crazing is not difficult to manufacture, it isn't necessarily an indication of age.
