WHERE IS THIS UNUSUAL VASE(?) FROM? TOURIST OR TRIBAL?

I found this at a local thrift store. It made me think of folk art ugly face jugs, and was so unusual I bought it- even though I thought it might be a cheap imitation piece (because where it is scratched near bottom there is white under the black so I think it's painted instead of say blackware (last photo?).But it has a lot of detail - even the breasts & belly button!
Any idea where it's from or representing?
Any possibility that it's real?

Brazil... modern marajoara pottery...I think.

 

Nice Aaron, I had never heard of the Marajoara Civilization. Their ancient ceramics are beautiful.
When I googled them I came across this Brazilian info:

"It's strange that Marajó Island, can be homeland for a advanced people, it has almost no relief and is only about 100m above sea level."

So I looked out the window. Flat as a pancake, and 18 metres above sealevel.
Of course we are hunter-gatherers, of jewellery and antiques for instance. We have no advanced weapons to hunt with, just a screen, a mouse or even worse, touchpad. We pay in the most primitive way, no coins or bills, but using some symbols on a small card, which seem to be some kind of mnemonic system.

 

I hadn't heard of it either until I found a few pieces of this style of pottery myself. The first/ancient forms of this pottery were giant burial urns that contained the bones of the deceased (over a meter in height I believe) - truly amazing.

Your civilization sounds so ...basic. I wonder what advanced alien life forms would think/do think of us simple little humans

 

We just have to make do with what we have.
