Note to self: buy Roman theaters.

But there is a question: in cases of finds like this, who owns it?

In UK there are “treasure trove” laws that reward a finder who turns the find over to the gov’t. I think. No idea what Italian law says.

    There are laws in Italy?

Of course I kid - I'm fairly sure it's the same there. EDIT - just found this statement :

The 1939 Act of the custody of artistic and historic objects affords protection to all objects and coins of historical or archaeological value including coins. All objects are State property and must be reported to the Superintendency of Arts. Rewards may be offered up to 1/4 of the value.

IOW - finders weepers. They'll still get a nice chunk of change out of it, or maybe their grandchildren will by the time the Italian government moves at its usual pace.

I haven't found anything like that in my basement. Must not be looking in the right places.

*** Note to self....check under the Christmas decorations for gold horde.***

Alas, the only people who lived here back in the day were broke Native Americans and broke farmers. I think this used to be a cow pasture; there were still cows further back when my dad bought the house. We've done some digging for various projects over the years. We found rocks.
