Aesthetic Movement piece. Silver flaked glass with gilt rim. Only marked with numbers at base.

I *think* I narrowed down the makers to either James Tufts or Pairpoint, but not really sure.

Any help well be much appreciated.

    Thank you!

Don't know anything about the glass, but it's sad to think that the base maker of something so nice did not bother to put their name on it somewhere. :(

    Lovely thing!

Thanks Clutter for your time, thoughts and link. I'll dig around and see what I can find.

@Baker, yes very sad and thank you!

Would the glass fall within the same time period as the stand? or you all have no idea?

    Is the glass called: "Spangled(?)".

Remember seeing this on the 'Finds' thread, first thoughts were that it was probably Meriden, the fan handle was broken off (both?), and that the insert was not original - then promptly forgot about it. Quick search online didn't find one like it, nor did a cursory search through likely catalogs, so started looking for similar elements for an attribution. 19th century American silverplate manufacturers seemed to feel that the more stuff they put on 'Aesthetic' pieces, the better, so you look for bits & pieces - at least this one has mostly Asian elements, could be described as 'Japanesque' or 'Japonisme'. An 1883 Meriden Britannia catalog showed enough...

I'd give you $8.00 for it. 100% mark-up on the original price ;)

That is a really nice piece.

Maybe spangled, but I would look at glass with silver flake inclusions - lovely looking pieces! Can you show a photo of the base of the vase?

    Thx CX!

Below are two images, parcel-gilt top and the base. Vase looks Victorian to me, but I could be wrong, I suck at evaluating glass.

    @Cheryl,

Thanks again for helping with this item. Would it be ok for me to use the catalog images you posted for reference?

thanks for the photos nuff. Looks like it is cased glass from your photo, but not sure, could be the light.
I agree, I think the glass is old and very well done. I found other pieces of glass with the same treatment, dating to the late 1800s, so this would fit in with the time period for the stand. Sorry I can't help with who did it, but I think the beauty of the two pieces together will bring some high bids for you! You were correct with 'Spangle glass', it brought up more older pieces while inclusions brings up more modern glass:happy:
I'm by no means an expert, just giving my thoughts on the glass.
