Old Chinese/Japanese porcelain plate?

    Any ideas about this 9.5 in (24 cm) plate? There are definitely glaze contractions and rust spots. No mark, though.

    How sweet, not seen one of these before. It's 'The white rabbit in the cherry tree' a Japanese legend/story. It's quite naively drawn but still fun. Probably from Arita, perhaps mid to late 19th century.

    Thanks Ce BCA. I have always liked this plate because of the naivety. Maybe a beginner piece? I also thought Japanese with what looked like a Dai Nippon character around the edges but wasn't completely sure. Now I need to find that legend to put the story with the plate. But I must confess that I thought they were birds! Of course I now see rabbits.

    Today I actually found a plate similar to mine which you commented on and I thought you might like to see it. This one looks as though it has a mark. My plate looks to be in better condition though.
