    She was watching with me when I made a favorable comment, and said Red’s red hair wasn’t naturally that color. Then when I said I had a sneaking suspicion some female attendees might be selected for qualities other than the objects they brought, she said loudly, with an incredulous look, “D’ya think?”

    Oopsssss.
    I think she is a natural redhead with a little help from a bottle. The colour is often 'jazzed up' that way, and why not, it looks good.
    That blue looks good on her too, complements her skin tone and hair.
