Also, check completed listings. Since there is no fee for listing an item, sellers can ask any price they want and sometimes they are crazy high!

I always go with the assumption, its only worth as much as someone is willing to pay;)

My guess would be that value (which is defined as the most someone is willing to pay today) depends to a large extent on which piece of the pattern you have, whether it is something they would have made lots of, like plates, or something they would have made fewer of, like milk jugs. Then there's the matter of how likely is it that the piece will not survive intact, that a lid will get dropped, a handle knocked off. If any of your pieces, like that cheese wedge/butter keeper piece, are uncommon, rarely found in good condition when found at all, someone who just has to have it to complete a collection may be willing to pay very good money.

Thank you so much for that full answer, very kind of you to take the time.

Your definition of value is exactly as I replied further up the thread!

I definitely want to sell it, it’s just not my thing!

I saw & was confirming that it is more than an assumption. If we had been speaking face to face I would have been able to send those little signals of acknowledgment. Read that line with emphasis on 'is'. So many out there think there's a single correct value, that there's some way to get it right. Good you're unencumbered by nostalgic attachment. Sometimes see things priced as though seller's sentimental value had any worth to the rest of us.

One think I have learned since clearing out our family's house of 53 years is that if you have any kind of attachment to something you want to get rid of, selling it (or at least advertising it locally for free pick up) might be the best option. For me, anyway, I felt that if I just donated the items, someone who might not appreciate it could just pick it up for next to nothing. But if you sell it, you're likely to find someone who knows what it is and will appreciate it.

I got rid of a lot of stuff during that time and advertising it so that people went through the process of bidding for it or just buying it or at least having to come by and pick it up ensured that the person more likely really wants it. I wasn't out to make a buck, but I didn't want to just dump it off somewhere. (I hope this makes sense!).

Yes, when I sell stuff that belonged to family members, I do try to price it objectively. It can be hard sometimes!
