Picked this up recently. Seller had this listed as a brass extension and thought it was to lift a pot or pan. I don't think that he knew than it was telescoping. I haven't tested it yet but I'm pretty sure it will it is low grade rolled gold with the working end being wash over brass. Compressed, it measures approx 7 - 1/2". Elongated it measures approx 11". The working end can be unscrewed from the handle. The working end has a "U" shaped fork overhung by a spatula shape. The spatula shape has a lever, which when pulled down causes the spatula, or tongue to pull away from the "U". When lifted up it lifts the tongue and locks the tongue in place. It very much reminds me of a telescoping handle for opera glasses. If it is, how does it attach?

I wonder if it's not for opera glasses.

Thanks Debora. I see 2 that in the bunch that have grapplers like mine. Now it's just a case of case of figuring out exactly where the grapplers grap!

The grapplers sort of go on the bridge of the opera glasses - for stability.
