Pottery vase with S Hallmark ?

    This vase too, I have had for a long time, the hallmark is an S only .
    Anybody know this maker ?

    I'm thinking it may be a student piece and the S was to distinguish it when it came out of the kiln. Seems to me I used to buy vases like this when our college held the student art sale.
