I have been gathering up various bits of costume jewelry for a few months, and this lot contains some better, I hope, pieces. Some of them are not marked or I don't know the stone, so I have questions. Any comments or thoughts would be appreciated on the following:

    1. Amber cross necklace with butterfly dangle. I checked it, and it is amber.

    2. Green and blue stone earrings with sterling silver stamp. What do you think the stone is?

    3. Rippled brown stone pendant. The surround looks silver to me but it is unmarked. What is the stone?

    IMG_1114.JPG IMG_1115.JPG

    4. Is this as claimed: Ivory, Emeralds, Rubies and Gold Pendant.

    5. Highly faceted stone - Quite small - Any thoughts as to stone?

There are two more, but ran out of picture space. See the next post please.

I'll take a guess at the square stone in #7 - ocean jasper.

@Hollyblue - what differences would a person look for between leopard skin & ocean jasper? Just for my own education. . .I have a couple of eBay pendants that were called 'ocean jasper'.

The blue stone might be blue topaz or blue zircon.

I posted a huge necklace a week or so back which had ocean jasper.

I've seen that butterfly dangle, I think there's something in the Hoard. The ammonite and earrings look like nice modern Indonesian/Balinese.

I was hoping blue topaz. I need to get a gem tester!
I'll look at your post for the ocean jasper necklace, though I study your posts pretty carefully. :)
I'm not going to keep the cross necklace. I just bought it, to see if it was amber. I was hoping to find the dangle, so I can know maker.
Excellent about the Indonesian/Balinese pieces. Although I don't have pierced ears, I was interested in these because of the stones and designs. The Nautilus ahell is large and so cool.
As always I appreciate your insights into what I have. Thank you so much.

This was the necklace: made by a South African artist.

4 is ivory. Don't think there's any way to know about the stones & metal from photos.

Okay. Those were quick and dirty photos, as Riley was insisting on getting into the light box. A fight that went on for a half and hour. I'll take better this afternoon. I’ll lock her out of the room and not listen to the screaming. Thank you.

I instantly thought, 'that a chip off the old mahogany block'; but I didn't have the chutzpah to say it out loud.

Brian. Perfect. Made me giggle. I knew I had heard of Mahogany Obsidian, actually I realized I have a chunk of it after @Hollyblue identified it.
