    Hi there,
Can anyone guess what decade this Modeline came from? I know that the company was still in business in the 70's and this lamp seems to have a little of that funky vibe. I am trying to see if it's worth bothering trying to find a shade that might look good on it. Thank you

Curious, what material is the green part made of? If that is original to the lamp I would think worth finding a shade. Modeline lamps are quite collected.

    Hi Lucille,
The center cylinder of the lamp is bubbly plastic. It has the original felt on the bottom so I'm assuming it's original to the lamp. It is also really tall, 45 inches.

I'm thinking because they are pretty collectible, that you could probably sell at a good price and let the new owner pick out their own shade.

    Nice looking TALL lamp!

Imagine have this as your bedside lamp LOL! You'd have to get up just to turn the lamp on and off!

If selling, I'm with Wiscbirddog. Let the new owner pick out the shade. Shipping shades is a real PIA. Although light weight, USPS and others are now charging extra for volume.

I can imagine this would be a hard lamp to find the perfect shade for, but you have some examples thanks to Book.

Cool lamp. I have a giant Modeline in my living room. :)

Can't realy add anything. Deffinitely a later model but should still have good interest. If selling on the internet, sell without a shade. If selling locally, stick some kind of shade on it.

Found this pair from about the same era. Nothing particularly striking about the shades so something of similar ilk would work well.

I heartily disagree!!! My first one lasted years & years, now on my 2nd one - I can read in bed until my eyes are slamming shut and then turn off my light without getting out of bed to reach the lamp. :singing:

Rather than buy a new stock frame, I would suggest that the new owner of any vintage lamp have a frame made. Budget permitting, of course.
