Featured Where to get old metal dresser stripped and refinished???

    Hi all,
    I own a small Simmons dresser. It's been hiding in my spare room for about 3 or 4 years. I would like to get it stripped and refinished but am having trouble finding anyone to do it. The dresser has wooden runners so no one wants to touch it. Any ideas? I'm in the Chicago area. I love it and would love to actually use it.     Anyone near you who restores vintage appliances? They'd have the capability to powder coat.

    I'd try auto body and paint shops too. I've never done it but I've heard of people having metal furniture bead-blasted and painted at body shops.

    I had a wire ice cream parlor table and 4 chairs powder coated and it was $400,but that was 10+ years ago so Im sure its more expensive now. That being said,that set has seen tons of use and theres not a scratch or chip on it.

    If you love whatever is being redone and want to use it yourself, and need it in just the right color then it's worth it. For resale? No way.

    I went in a house once for a tag sale and the lady had all pink appliances in her kitchen. When I asked her about it, she said that she had them all painted at an auto body place.
