I found this at a new thrift store I discovered today. I remember reading somewhere about the number of bands? on the arms mean something; with 5? being the best.
I've bought & sold rattan furniture before; it seems there are a lot of decors that use it in Florida, and since I've never seen a piece like this so I paid the $100 asking price w/o haggling!
Any idea how old this is?
    Who made it?
And do I call it rattan, bamboo, or bamboo rattan?
    ANY info would be appreciated!

I would think it is rattan rather than bamboo. Rattan is a long climbing palm/vine, which can be easily formed by bending. Bamboo is more rigid. I suppose there might be a combination of the two in the furniture - it looks like the pieces used on the seat and back might be split bamboo. If you post some closeups I might be able to confirm the materials. Any exposed ends, or split surfaces would be helpful.

Hard to see how attractive the piece is with those ill-fitting cushions.

There was a designer who was famous - at least in part - for those rattan furniture pieces. I remember a Woodard, but his was spun fiberglass.

I agree, rattan. Most of these are made in Indonesia and the Philippines. If it doesn't have a label it is just generic SE Asian. I wouldn't call it mid-century, these are still being made, and are pretty similar to rattan chairs from the early 20th century.
Weren't those overly reclining backs popular in the 70s and 80s? Impossible to sit in if you have back problems.
Yes it definitely needs different cushions.

Rattan furniture was popular in the 1980s, so not sure it’s technically mid-century...but then, I’m definitely mid-century vintage so, 1980s doesn’t seem that old to me!
