1112181422~2.jpg 1112181422~2.jpg 1112181823.jpg I was attracted to this piece because I had never seen a figurine- that appeared to be pretty old and well done - with such a unusual subject matter. Ive had it for awhile and have never been able to learn anything about it. The numbers on the bottom are legible, but the makers mark is hard to decifer. It looks English to me, but I have no clue. Can anyone help me find out who made this and is the number 1886 referring to the date it was made?

Very funny, unless you're the husband. So is that a commode he's leaning over? And what is that brown thing in the lady's hand?

(When my BIL would do this, his wife would lean over hime and say, "get him whiskey, get him!) in an ominous voice. LOL, it's become an embedded family phrase.

Looks like she's fixing to spank that arse!

It was made in Germany by Conta & Boehme. The mark is an arm holding a dagger.

It is called a "fairing" Sorry, I justnoticed someone else had given the term. Have sold quite a few in my time. One of the commonest being "The last one to bed turns out the lights" Have to watch out for repros.

Most of these fairings were German made - they don't have the value they once did, but fun.

I think there's an episode in Dylan Thomas' "The Outing" about a woman who buys porcelain figurines to break over her husband's head when he comes home late and drunk. He's big and she's small and has to stand on a chair to do it. She buys them by the gross.
