brass stag deer ornament

Can anyone identify this? It has two threaded holes on the base to attach to something and marked with a roman XI. I suspect the head is maybe a separate piece and the body is more like a dog or a bear. About 3" high

 

Yes, it looks soldered on, rather crudely. Someone's idea of a joke maybe.

Good point, if fact, maybe that's what it is, why else would someone bother to put a different animals' head on to it. I just thought it had some nice details

 

Any thoughts as to what the dog was originally or what car its meant to attach onto? Were they made to be universal? Thanks

The dog looks like a cur-tailed hunting dog & the stag would be its prey, so bit of a joke here.

 

I didn't think dogs were used for hunting deer?
