Hello Everyone! I picked up a cute little vase with "FAINT HEART NEVER WON FAIR LADY" on the back. I thought there was a category for these vases with sayings but I can't remember the title. The vase stands about 4 5/8" tall. The bottom is unmarked but since it's in English I'm assuming it's from Britain. Maybe brought back as a souvenir piece? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!
    Don

This makes me chuckle. Usually that saying is construed as meaning the would be suitor has to overcome nerves about approaching the lady. In this case I think he has to brave the dog.

A search for 'English motto ware' returns some things of this sort.

Thank, INH. Sure looks like the same vase. The listing identifies it as probable Zell. With Zell and motto ware I think I have enough to move forward. Thanks everyone!

We do call that motto ware, although as you know now, it's not British.

I was going to say! All the British moto ware I’ve ever seen was incised or painted and most modern stuff is distinctly Cornish pottery.
