Featured Paxton Jasperware Jug

    This shouted at me from the Charity Shop shelf that I should take pity and take it home.
    I can find very little about the company or how to date this from the marks.
    I presume missing it’s lid as there are 4 little metal prongs at the top?
    The R.J.Smith looks to be written in biro so think maybe a later owners name.
    Any info welcome :)

    The maker is Dudson, 'Paxton' is thought to be either a retailer or the shape/design of the jug.

    It's missing a pewter or silver plated lid. A water jug. Dudson made nice sprigged wares.
