Okay, yall win ! Glass it is ! So what would its purpose have been? Pen holder? It did have black crud in the bottom,as well as several brush hairs, hence my assumption a brush pot of some sort.Thank you all for your input, always learning on here !

Looking at the third picture,it's a candleholder for me.:bookworm:
It's me or in the second picture you can see the pontil mark too ?
The picture is too noisy to be certain but it's a spot in a different color on the bottom side…
    After correcting the picture.

I have some lovely leac crystal cullet, which is almost certainly Whitefriars. It has no purpose, it's literally "waste" from clearing the glory hole. Often sold as paperweights or decorative objects. Yours happens to have an indent, which has obviously come in handy.

Yes it is. I try so hard to take good pics,Ive come a long way from when I started!
A few more with a blacklight, that spot in the bottom is where the ink or whatever stained the tube.

Now that you all have settled on glass, I have one more hypothesis. What about a small stalagmite? The shape looks like something dripped and accumulated slowly. The process could include air bubbles, and create something clear and very smooth on the outside.
But maybe not - I have been looking for comparable photos of stalagmites but can't find anything quite right.

Stalagmites and stalagtites are brittle and tend to rub easily, unless they're really ancient.

    Hi,
We always called the stalaCite if hanging from the ceiling and a stalaGmite if growing from the floor.

And we always called the ones dripping from the ceiling stalactites. They tend to be some form of calcium carbonate, from water percolating through limestone.

Not all are CaCO2, you didn't mention MnCO3 rhodochrosite.

Got my chemistry wrong, come to that. CaCO3. Tsk, my chemstry teacher would shout at me if she were still alive.

I've not been in rhodochrosite caves.

And then there's pack rat guano.
