I know this isn't antique by any stretch of the imagination but I didn't know where else to post this thing.:confused::wacky::hilarious:

I was curious if anyone has any ideas as to what this might have been used for or is it just a tschoke?

It is hard plastic, 5 3/8" long & 2 1/4" across the front claws. Not marked anywhere that I could find.

    Here's the translation @Bronwen:

Body massager Doctor Banya "Cancer" / face massager / foot massager

    Briefly about the product
    • massage area: lower back, thighs, legs, shoulders, back, arms, neck
    • material: plastic

Look out @i need help your premiere position of being able to find obscure --it might be in jeopardy. ;) :playful::playful::playful: :D

I would have never guessed this in a million years!!!:rolleyes::rolleyes: :D:D

I swear I looked last night & was actually shocked at how many responses I got when I googled lobster massager. Who knew??? :wacky::wacky::wacky:

I will tell you I just tried to use it as a face massager & it sucks IMHO. :p:p:p :hilarious::hilarious:

I wonder if this is supposed to be a crab rather than a lobster which would explain the use of the word "cancer".:confused:

I wondered that too but the others I saw were an octopus & a turtle so don't think it is related to the zodiac. Plus, it looks like a lobster. Perhaps just a glitch in the Russian translation?

I have seen Renaissance art use a more scorpion/lobster type creature for Cancer, identifiable by its place in the lineup of astrological symbols.

Peggy, is it made of lucite? ;)

It is translucent hard plastic. I am not sure you can tell if something is lucite or acrylic or generic hard plastic.

When I think of lucite I think of MCM stuff & this definitely does not fit into that era.

Not to dis your lobster there, but a massager? Really? With this concept I could pick up any plastic toy, roll it around on my neck and back and get a massage. It looks like it would hurt, especially on a thin person.

I did try to rub it on my face & it did hurt. So I stand by my earlier comment that it sucks. :p:p
