I have a friend who is very interested in what is pinned to this woman's choker. She's Voltairine de Cleyre, an American who lived from 1866 to 1912. Not sure of the year of this photo though. Any help is appreciated, thanks!!
Here, they say the photo is from Christmas 1891 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voltairine_de_Cleyre Fascinating history and character
The photo in the Wiki link kyra posted is not as blurry, and I found this portrait, where it is more clear what the pendant is: https://dribbble.com/shots/10872443-Voltairine-de-Cleyre It looks like there is a cross in the centre, and two leaves or feathers on either side.
Oh wow, that is clearer. We were thinking some kind of cross too, but we didn't know if it something tied to a specific designer, church, etc. Thank you!
Have you researched what organisations she was involved with or awards she may have won? It may be related to this.
nice first name that had a good influence obviously. sooo, if you want to make your child an idiot - call him Donald because you never read anything more intelligent than Walt Disney. a good survey is "Demanding the Impossible: A History of Anarchism" by Peter Marshall that shows the different quarrels between the differing influences. a cross would not be contradicting the political positions because many anarchists and socialists stressed that the real Christianity (Urchristen) was more socialist or even communist than what the cloaked pedos want to make us believe till today.
When it looked like a cross he was confused because at some point in her life she turned against the church. I'm not sure when that was vs. when this photo was taken. She's a bit of an obscure figure, so it might always be a mystery.
She may have realised that the church doesn't have a monopoly on cross symbolism. As the Dutch 8th May Movement said: "We are the church". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eighth_of_May_Movement I was a theology student at the time, and I was present when those words were first spoken, by Michel van der Plas. It was a magic moment that was felt by the twelve thousand strong crowd. Even I felt it, and I am a lapsed Catholic.
@Kelly M. , I believe the upper part is a torch on the center with the word "REASON" IN THE MIDDLE .......
Oh yes I see that, interesting! We'll research symbols/logos from that time period, that might be the answer. Thank you!
