Vintage key - PO box or something else?

Good afternoon,

We found this key among my father's things after he passed. It was with some old rosary beads that once belonged to my grandmother. My first thought was that it was an old, defunct PO Box, but I want to be sure before I disregard it. It is very heavy, and was not on a ring. The address is to return it if found is in Tennessee - I have googled upon googled and cannot find anything that seems to fit it in description or photo. Thank you for any insight you may have.

 

I wouldn't be surprised if it was a Hotel Room Key.

 

3412. Too high a number for a hotel, I'd think. 1963 or later from postal code.

one listing also thinks hotel... that zip code seems to be for the Nashville airport area

IF it is a safety deposit box. you might want to do an abandoned property search. Each state has a website for it. Google Missing Money search and go from there.

i concur.........having used one like it..

 

Couldn't hurt to do the property search anyway, just in case. Smells like a room key to me though. (you have to wonder what she got up to, to keep the key as a souvenir!)
