This one sold at auction over $500. The auctioneer said all the parts were working, the hands, the head and the tongue. Not sure why the head is tipped over like that and the auctioneer said they can't remember anything more. But a couple questions remain: what does that signature on the side mean: Lowansea or something? Also isnt this mark one of the newer marks the shield, the ones I have seen use the older turn of the century mark with the double crossed lines. Does it effect the value? 68054917_IMG3107.jpg 44474397_IMG31062.jpg 17624085_IMG3105.jpg 67360240_IMG30932.jpg 29932471_IMG30972.jpg 91416610_IMG30952.jpg 14633986_IMG3094.jpg 23113974_IMG31012.jpg 76991730_IMG3096.jpg 68054917_IMG3107.jpg 44474397_IMG31062.jpg 17624085_IMG3105.jpg 67360240_IMG30932.jpg 29932471_IMG30972.jpg 91416610_IMG30952.jpg 14633986_IMG3094.jpg 23113974_IMG31012.jpg 76991730_IMG3096.jpg

Someone didn't know, or care that the pin in the neck was pushed too far over to one side. It's supposed to get cradled in both notches in the upper collar. As it sits, it's only in one.

Thanks, Sabre. I didn't realize it could just be pushed over, thought one side was missing.

@sabre123 , do you know why the brown spot on the top of the head?
I had not seen that in nodders in the past, could that have been manufacturing damage that was repaired from the factory? I doubt the weight holding the head needed more anchorage than glue?

Sorry, anti, but I'm just a mechanically inclined guy, that is sporadically observant :) but am no means an expert on this particular piece.

There are a few of these on worthpoint, if someone would check the sold prices.

janetpjohn: they top out at about $1000 as I recall but I wonder if that was only for the older turn of the century ones. The one I show here is newer, mid 20th cent, if I recall. Worthpt is down at the moment.
