Looks like curved Jed in Sterling. Not sure if the stones are real 86DC9A9D-00A4-435A-B472-E37DEE72BB1C.jpeg B1CFBBAA-42AE-43DF-84EF-6C6F3E44CA36.jpeg 0F8E4519-1EAE-4956-8B3E-CED9F5E2059E.jpeg

I see it says "sterling" but is it plated? Is that a tiny chip out of the metal?

My guess is it's sterling, but with the old style rhodium coating.

Estater, do the stones feel cold?
Judging from the colour of the chipping around the holes in the stones, I wonder if they could be glass (Czech?).
I have a chipped carnelian cabochon that I just ordered a replacement for, and it is the same deep colour all the way. The chips on my cab are roundish, we call it shell-shaped in Dutch, not this fritting.
If it is as yellow in real life as on the photo, it could be gold plating that has chipped.

Yellowish in real life. I concur on the fact that it may have been gold plated sterling. The question of Czech glass is also a possibility because I found a lot of it in this collection

Yes that's what I was thinking but didn't want to sound as though I was minimizing this piece. I do think it's gold plated and that's a chip in the plating.

Those holes may have held rhinestones. If I can find it, I've a Czech carved glass one with stones in.

Oh! Thanks, Book! I have always wondered what the holes in these sort of stones are, but never saw one with stones set. Makes sense tho!

Those were originally made to be sewn on clothing, but from ca 1900 they were set in jewellery. Later carvers copied the old fashion of stone plaques with holes in them.;)

I have a necklace sitting here, gold-fill and glass, with molded faux carnelian pieces with the same holes.
