    Hello again,
I just bought the attached tile, just love the depiction, want to frame it and hung it on my bathroom wall.
I would like to know more about it. Maybe @Bronwen Can identify the story line.
I can see an apple tree and a naked woman and a naked man, which reminds me of the Bible story of Adam and Eve, the fall into sin.
But there are 2 girls as well and a very diffrent looking toddler, the image is not clear. On top I can see 2 Griffins, don't know much about them, but for sure they have some meaning. I was sold as Minton tile this pice.
Please let me know your thoughts. Please feel free to copy anyone else if intrested.
    Thank you.
    Kind regards,
    Simona

The frame around it is full of references to the wine god Dionysus/Bacchus: a drum; pan pipes & double flute; a wine jug; something I don't recognize, for mashing grapes?; & at the bottom 2 thyrses (thyrsi?), the staff carried by the god & his followers with a pine cone on top. The nudity of the men is also typical of bacchanalia scenes.

The child & what does appear to be an apple tree are out of place. If you substituted Cupid & a grape vine you would have something more typical.

    Hello again,
@komokwa I wonder if you could move my post to ceramics or art, as I would like to find out a bit more about this tile.
I would like to know if it's a Minton tile, how old is it, and if anyone recognise the depiction.
Please feel free to tag anyone may know something about it.
    Thank you.
    Kind regards,
    Simona

It requires a moderator like @i need help to move a thread; komokwa is not a moderator. I have already given you clues about the scene. It's not really coherent. There is a scene of fruit gathering in the center with a nude man seated on either side in the foreground. It doesn't really make a lot of sense. You will have to take it as it is.

Lovely, thank you so much, I am still learning my way around the site.
I want to frame it, I like the depiction very much, It’s first ceramic purchase for me, and don’t know even the tile name was mentioned to me by the seller. Still allot to learn .
    Thank you.
    Kind regards,
    Simona

Would it be possible to see the entire back? So far I see "No. 4"

Most of the similar tiles I'm finding so far say they are Wedgwood. This one with the same scene does have Wedgwood on the back. I imagine someone else could also have made the scene. If by Allen (see below) this blog says he was at Minton before he was at Wedgwood.

This one has the same central scene with a different border. No mark. The seller gives this: "the design is attributed to the Wedgwood designer Thomas Allen. The tile measures approximately 6 inches square and has the typical Wedgwood back. The tile has a couple of small chips to the edges and some staining to the glaze, see photographs. Please see page 117 in the book ‘Wedgwood Ceramics’ by Maureen Batkin and also page 155 of the book ‘Collecting Victorian Tiles’ by Terence A. Lockett for other examples of this tile."
